"The Mystery of the Dead President" by Alex and Noah
The President, Vice President, two bodyguards, and a pilot were returning home from a trip to Afghanistan.
“Are we at Washington D.C yet?” asked the President. “Not quite.” responded the pilot. “Then when will we get there?” retorted the President. “In about 45 minutes.” replied the pilot. Then, they entered in a deep discussion about whether they did a good job in Afghanistan or not. “I’m going to use the restroom.” said the Vice President. The President and bodyguards heard a noise from the cockpit that sounded like “uuuuuuuuuggggghhhhhh”, but they were so deep in their conversation that they decided not to check it out. Then all of a sudden they went into a spiralling nose dive and they crashed right next to the White House in a fiery explosion. 1 The USA was taken aback, by the president and the vice president with broken ribs and and a set of broken legs. People in D.C. were going insane about the president’s death because they are the only ones who know because it has not been publicly announced yet. But all over the U.S. people know the president is in a critical condition or worse, dead. But since D.C. knows there have been full scale riots in D.C. The army has even had to help the police bring the riots down because somehow people got their hands on a couple thousand grenades and even artillery to shoot or throw at the White House. But tomorrow the Vice President will make an announcement to tell the country what has happened to the president, and riots will start all over the U.S. 2 “Ladies and Gentlemen! I’m here to announce that your beloved president is dead. The President, two bodyguards, a pilot, and I were on the plane when we suddenly went into a spiraling nose dive. We crashed, but I was lucky to barely make it out alive. The White house and I have decided that I will fill in for him for the rest of his term.” announced the Vice President. “I have one other announcement, we are looking for a detective. We are looking for the best of the best, and that means you Alexander Chelovitz and your partner, Noah Perry. 3 “I can’t believe we were hired to investigate the President plane incident!” exclaimed Noah. “Well, we’d better get to the crash site sooner rather than later,” replied Alexander. When Alexander and Noah got to the site they started searching for clues. They found the bodies of the two bodyguards, president, and the pilot. “Hey Alexander, why does the pilot have a handkerchief on his face? Was he blowing his nose when he died?” murmured Noah, as he examined the pilot’s body. Noah sniffs the handkerchief, and suddenly falls over unconscious. “Interesting,” says Alexander, “the handkerchief is drugged. That must be why the pilot went into a nosedive.” * “Mommy is that you?” said Noah drowsily, just after he came conscious again. “Noah, focus,” said Alexander, “We have a mystery to solve here” “Oh yeah,” replied Noah. “I have deducted that the plane went into a nosedive because the pilot was drugged with the drugs on the handkerchief. So we know that the pilot wasn’t corrupt and killed everybody, he was innocent.” 4 The next day, Noah and Alexander went back to the crime scene to look for more clues. “I’d like to see if there were any security cameras that filmed the crash.” said Alexander. “I’ll go check the cameras while you keep investigating.” responded Noah. * Noah went into the White House and asked if there were any security cameras that had maybe filmed the crash. One of the security staff showed him to a room where there were tons of small screens showing every little part of the White House. “Show me the film from the outside of the White House on the date 11/9/2011.” demanded Noah. The staff member showed him the video. Just before the plane crashed a figure jumped out of the plane with a parachute! * While Noah was in the White House, Alexander was investigating the plane. He was searching around when he saw something under one of the bodyguards. He turned him over and found that he was wearing a parachute. Alexander thought about this for a second. Maybe the bodyguard did it and was planning to jump out so he wouldn’t die! 5 Alexander and Noah discussed their information at their office. Both of their clues hinted that the bodyguard did it. But that was until they learned about the black box. Alexander and Noah went to a plane specialist to see if the plane had anything that could have survived that would help them. When they arrived, they told the specialist about their situation. He told them about a device in the plane that records all the sound on the plane. “Where can this be located?” inquired Alexander. “I know this may sound funny, but it is located in the bathroom under the sink in most planes. It is placed there because no one will suspect it there.” replied the specialist. Alexander and Noah set of to find the black box on the plane at once. They got there and found it still perfectly intact. They played the recording from 11/9/2011. For most of the time, they were just talking politics. The Vice President said he had to go to the bathroom, but then they heard a groan from the cockpit. The partners determined that was the pilot dieing, but then, when they heard the bodyguards and the President discovering their situation, they realized the the Vice President never came out of the bathroom. That’s when Alexander got an idea. They went and reviewed the video. Alexander made an observation that the man jumping out of the plane with the parachute was much too skinny and tall to be the bodyguard, but he was just the right size to be the Vice President! All the information made sense and pointed to the Vice President. Alexander was sure it was him now, and he was ready to accuse him. 6** Alexander told Noah his thinking, and he agreed. The next morning, Alexander and Noah went to have a private meeting with the Vice President to accuse him. The two detectives had police standing outside the door of the Vice President’s office, ready to arrest him. When they walked in, the Vice President asked them to take a seat. “You did it!!!” blurted Noah. “Calm down Noah. Although, Noah is correct Mr. Vice President. We have come to accuse you of the incident.” said Alexander. “And why is that?” responded the Vice President. “Well,” replied Alexander,”You were the one in the video we saw from a security camera jumping out of the plane in a parachute. We also know that you went to the restroom and never came out. In the time that you were in the restroom, the pilot was murdered; we think that was you who murdered him. You did it by putting drugs on a handkerchief and wrapping the handkerchief around the pilot’s mouth so that he couldn’t yell for help while you were also putting him unconscious. Then, before the plane started to spiral downwards, you grabbed a parachute and jumped. The motive was obvious. You knew that you could convince the White House staff to let you cover for the President for the rest of his term.” The Vice President started clapping. “Bravo! Bravo!” exclaimed the Vice President. “I thought you’d never figure it out. Now excuse me, this is the time I run away and you guys don’t catch me.” The Vice President made a dash for the door, but was stopped by the police. “You’re not going anywhere except the prison.” said the police officer.
